Homemade Protein Bars - how hard can it be?

Why buy expensive protein bars, when you can make healthy bars yourself from scratch? Let's make a tasty, nutritious and healthy protein bar, using common ingredients.

Homemade Protein Bar Recipe

  • 1 banana, mashed
  • 1.5 cups dry oats
  • 4 scoops of protein powder
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup of melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons of ground flax seed
  • 1.5 cup of raisins
  • 0.5 cup of crushed almonds
  • 1/2 cup of dark chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

Mix all ingredients well, but leave out the chocolate. Take an 8 x 8 inch pan and line it with tin foil. Spread your mixture evenly in the pan. Carefully melt the chocolate over very low heat. Spread chocolate over the mixture in the pan.

Place the pan in the freezer for 3 hours. Cut up into 10 bars. Wrap each bar in plastic wrap, and keep in your freezer.

Before eating, thaw the bars for 30 minutes.

Each bar will have about 250 calories and 10 grams of protein, depending on how much protein powder you add.

Enjoy a simple, tasty and healthy home-made protein bar!
